What Traditional Post Natal Massage is?

Postpartum massage and binding nurtures the new mother for 10 – 40 days after birth, with daily massage, herbs and “Selendang” binding. The treatment is designed to aid physical and emotional symptoms that delivery may cause. It relaxes the muscles, helps restore the body to its pre-pregnancy condition.

Benefits of Traditional Post Natal Massage and “Selendang” Binding

1) Relaxation, Promoting rest

Relaxation massage decreases stress hormones and promotes endorphin especially beneficial to new moms coping with the radical physical and psychological change from pregnant woman to new mother giving mothers a much better chance of getting the restorative sleep they and their babies need.

2) Releasing Tension

Women often experience neck and shoulder pain from cradling their infant in the required position, which can interfere with feeding and rest. Regular massages treatments helps alleviate that tension.

3) Expediting the Healing Process

Manipulating the soft tissues of the body helps stimulate blood circulation, which can encourage a faster rate of  healing after the riggers of child birth. Soft tissue manipulation increases circulation and lymphatic drainage, which helps eliminate excess fluids and waste products. The body wrapping is used as a process for women to regain their figures after giving birth as the swelling and water retention reduced by compressing the belly.

4) Improving Breast-feeding

Breast-feeding can be particularly challenging for many new moms. Massage may also help to boost milk production by improving circulation. During massage, the body releases oxytocin. Oxytocin triggers the letdown reflex, the actual ejection of milk from the alveoli of the mammary gland which releases milk from breast.
